How to Create Horror in Games
Horror. Horror. HORROR!
Very few LT games contain even a very small grain of horror in them. Is this inability to write in this elusive and difficult genre? I can't say that for sure. Nonetheless, I have written this tutorial for those who wish to make their games more creepy, but don't know where to start. After all, what's the point of a zombie without decent tension? BE WARNED! THIS ARTICLE IS NOT FOR THE FAINT-HEARTED!
Learning JScript
To make your game dynamic and interesting, you need to know either JScript or VBScript. JScript is my preference, so heres my tutorial.
Extended Data
Extended data is a way to make the game more realistic, in some cases. You can use extended data to change a creatures attack hit/miss message, make custom actions or ready a creature to join the party.
Chests
Now I will tell you how to make a chest that is locked, and the way to get a key to unlock it.
Shrines
If you've played Diablo 2, you know what I mean. You walk up to it, use it, and receive its bonus or curse.
Mini-Games
Sure your making a major game, but how about a small respite? Mini-games are good fun, and you can even gamble in them.
Gambling Scripts
Gambling was a large occupation in medieval times, with the chance often to win a large sum of money. However, many people lost money, possessions, and even their lives to this vice. Here are three games, from then, and from today.
Creating Quests in LT
Step by step instructions to understand how quests and flags work in scripting.
Custom Skills Script (by Kamakani)
Creating your own skills can be fun, yet challenging. You may want to create whole new skills and use those instead of or with the default skills.

Terra 07/07/2008 07:56 It depends on the person. But generally within a week or two a person has the proficiency to write a script unaided. Complex scripting takes longer to understand.
robert ms 06/07/2008 15:01 I beg my pardon ,but another question .Is it hard to learn and how much time does it take ,thanks.
